Crazy Thoughts from Takezawa Toji’s Imagination

(Toji ryûkô omohi no Takezawa, 藤次流行思ひの竹沢)

Publisher: Sakurai Yasubei

c. 1843

Takezawa Toji (竹澤 藤次) was an entertainer who was especially known for his stunts with spinning tops.  This series is not listed in Kuniyoshi by Basil William Robinson (Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1961).  The prints in this series are each about 10 by 7 inches (25 by 18 centimeters), a size known as chûban.  I am grateful to Robert Pryor for assisting with this series.
