This series of fan prints (uchiwa) shows beautiful women paired with famous kabuki
actors. Each of the prints with legible
censors’ seals bear the seals of Fukushima Saburôemon
and Muramatsu Genroku, dating the prints to
1849-1851. The series is not listed Kuniyoshi
by Basil William Robinson (Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1961). |
