On the left is Kuniyoshi’s print of Onoe Kikugorô III as the ghost (bôkon) of Kasane (かさねぼうこん) in Kasane kiku kinugawa zome, performed in the 9th month of 1833.  On the right is Hokushû’s print of Onoe Kikugorô III as the ghost of Oiwa in Irohagana Yotsuya Kaidan, performed in the 1st month of 1826, which seems to be the inspiration for Kuniyoshi’s design.
