Shima asobi

(しま遊, Pleasure Island)

Many of the images in this series portray Asahina Saburô (朝比奈 三朗), a 13^th century warrior, whom Japanese mythology has transformed into a superhuman character. He is recognizable by his flared sideburns and saruguma (monkey makeup). Each page is approximately 7 by 4¾ inches or 17.5 by 12 centimeters, a size known as chûban.
